Council Meeting: Dec. 3, 2008
The regular meeting of the City Council for Castle Pines was held Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Castle Pines Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive.

Janie Berry is sworn in as City Clerk Among the highlights: The Council appointed Janie Berry as the new City Clerk, and she was sworn in by the Interim City Clerk, Doug Gilbert. Berry replaces former City Clerk Carl Kollmar, who resigned in October and now serves as the city's Deputy City Clerk. A formal swearing-in ceremony at the Douglas County Clerk's Office will be scheduled at a later date.
The Council also discussed and approved Resolution 08-53, "Approving statement of expenditures and appropriating funds therefor."
During the Council's study session preceding the meeting, members heard a presentation about the Community Safety Volunteer Program, sponsored by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The program trains residents how to help provide law-enforcement-related services that do not require a sworn officer, such as assistance with patrol, investigations and other community programs. Citizens are encouraged to learn about and consider participating in the program.
In addition, the South East Business Partnership, which represents businesses in Douglas County, Arapahoe County and south Denver County, presented and asked the City to consider membership.
The next City Council meeting – and the last session of 2008 – will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. It will be at the Castle Pines Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive. All Council meetings are open to the public.
