Council Meeting: Feb. 11, 2009
The regular meeting of the City Council for Castle Pines North was held 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the CPN Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive. Council would like to thank local Brownie Troop 628 for leading Council and the audience in the Presentation of Colors, Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem.
The Brownie troop's support was one of the ways that Council recognized the 1-year anniversary of cityhood for Castle Pines North. A proclamation declaring Feb. 12 as "Castle Pines North Citizens Day" was also read.
Among other highlights, Council discussed and approved these items:
- Two ordinances – 09-04 and 09-05 – that grant franchise agreements to Intermountain Rural Electric Association and Xcel Energy. Franchise fees are assessed by cities to utility providers in exchange for the use of the public right-of-way to deliver their services.
- Resolution 09-03, which sets the City Council 2009 meeting schedule. Beginning in March, City Council meetings will be held the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.
- Two resolutions – 09-06 and 09-22 – concerning agreements for legal services. The city's legal counsel is now provided by Widner, Michow & Cox, LLC.
- Resolution 09-14, which approves an intergovernmental agreement with Douglas County related to stormwater permitting and engineering services.
- Resolution 09-18, which approves the city's participation in "negotiations regarding a potential intergovernmental agreement creating a multi-jurisdictional regional transportation authority."
During the Council's study session preceding the meeting, Council discussed several issues, including city limit signage and information on planning and zoning procedures.
The next City Council meeting will be Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. in the CPN Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive. All Council meetings are open to the public. All meeting agendas are posted online and at the CPN Community Center the day before each meeting is held.
