City of Castle Pines North to form
'Mayor's Youth Advisory Council'

CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo., Jan. 27, 2009 — Castle Pines North Mayor Maureen Shul is inviting teens age 13-18 to consider joining the new Mayor's Youth Advisory Council.

The council is intended to help introduce Castle Pines North teens to the important processes, functions and decisions of a government while also providing a forum for youth to advise and work on city issues that matter most to them.

Participants in the inaugural Youth Advisory Council will work together as a team to help further shape the group’s mission, objectives and meeting schedule over the coming year.

"As a new and growing city, it is important to Castle Pines North to hear the voices and insights of citizens, especially those who are the future of our community," says Mayor Shul. "Teens who have the opportunity to explore and experience public service and community commitment today will certainly be even stronger leaders tomorrow."

Teens interested in volunteering for the council must fill out a short application and permission form. A parent/guardian signature is required before submitting the form.

To learn more about the new council, contact Mayor Shul at 303.705.0200.
