City and Metro District begin integration talks

CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo., Oct. 8, 2009 — Since incorporation, a dialogue between city and Metro District representatives has taken place to discuss how both entities can best serve the citizens of Castle Pines North. Discussions have now begun between the city and Metro District on a potential integration plan.

"Integration could provide the tax relief and efficiency of services that our residents deserve and have been anxious for," states Mayor Maureen Shul. "We are very encouraged to proceed with these discussions for the benefit of our residents and businesses."

"While there is much work to be done, clearly the best structure to support our community is one that removes inefficiencies and consolidates services, without impacting our ability to implement a permanent renewable water solution," says District Board President Bill Santos. "Both city and district teams have been working hard to make progress. We are pleased to move past some initial barriers that have challenged us all and are excited about the possibilities that are ahead of us."

As the integration process moves forward, citizens will be asked for their input and comments and will be informed of the progress and timeline via city communications and public meetings. Visit the city Web site, www.cpngov.com, for scheduled meetings and updates.
