City of Castle Pines North votes to dissolve metro district
CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo., Feb. 8, 2010 —The City of Castle Pines North has filed paperwork for dissolution of the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District, a process city officials say could increase service efficiency and result in savings to citizens and business owners. City Council voted to move forward with the dissolution proceedings at its Jan. 26 regular meeting. “Now that a decision has been reached, the city and the metro district should work diligently to devise and implement a dissolution plan that best meets the needs of the community,” said Mayor Jeffery Huff. Integrating the district operations into the city would bring services such as water and wastewater, stormwater, and parks and open space under city control. The city plans to meet with metro district representatives later this month to draft a comprehensive integration plan, conduct a detailed financial analysis, and address the city’s future water needs. Incorporated Feb. 12, 2008, Castle Pines North is a city of about 10,000 located 20 miles south of Denver in Douglas County.
