City of Castle Pines North finalizing several
URA Intergovernmental Agreements

CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo., June 2, 2010
– The City of Castle Pines North is currently finalizing several Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) regarding the new Urban Renewal Authority (URA) with area governmental agencies including the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, Castle Rock Fire and Rescue and the Parker Water and Sanitation District. The City had also reached out to Douglas County and to the Castle Pines North Metro District to discuss the potential for an IGA prior to the May 25th Public Hearing.

The IGAs are aimed at ensuring that these local service providers will experience little to no impact, financially or otherwise, as a result of the Castle Pines North URA. Local government participation in these various IGAs highlights overall support of the City’s inclusive process of forming the URA.

Following discussion of the IGAs, they will be on the agenda for approval during the June 8th City Council meeting.

Over the past two years the City has consistently gone above and beyond when it comes to planning for the URA and ensuring as many parties as possible are included in the decision-making process. Multiple professional feasibility studies have been conducted, and several public meetings for residents and business owners were held in the past several months.
