CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo., June 3, 2010 – The Happy Canyon Homeowners’ Association has filed a complaint in the Douglas County District Court challenging the City’s formation of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) and the adoption of the City of Castle Pines North Urban Renewal Plan (Urban Renewal Plan). The City is currently reviewing the complaint, but believes the claims are unsubstantiated and will be filing appropriate motions with the District Court in the near future to dismiss the complaint.

Since the City was incorporated, City Council members have consistently considered the formation of a URA to be an important additional tool with which to pursue long term economic redevelopment policies in order to ensure the ongoing financial health of the City and to promote reinvestment in the Castle Pines North community.
