CPN Safety Task Force

Mission Statement

While the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) is providing, and will continue to provide, law enforcement services to the new City of Castle Pines North (CPN) as it has in the past, City officials established a CPN Safety Task Force of committed volunteer residents to work with the DCSO and the community on the issue of law enforcement and other safety-related issues in the new city.

The CPN Safety Task Force identified as its specific mission, "to keep the City of Castle Pines North a safe place to live and work for every resident of the community." The Task Force is charged with the responsibility of working with City Council to establish a contract with the DCSO for the provision of law enforcement services to the City, as well as to address a variety of other safety-related issues within the CPN community.

The Task Force is comprised of dedicated and committed volunteers from CPN with varied backgrounds and interests, as well as representatives from City Council. Anyone interested in helping keep our City a safe place to live and work is welcome to serve.  It does not take a lot of time, just a few hours a month to help out.

The following is a list of areas the task force has been involved in:
  • Neighborhood Watch Program
  • Living safely with wildlife
  • Wildfire mitigation
  • Emergency management and preparedness
  • School and child safety
  • Traffic/pedestrian safety and street safety/maintenance
  • Safety issues with new developments
  • Senior/handicap/special needs – Project Lifesaver, home safety, Special Needs Registry (DCSO)
  • Sex Offender Registry - working with schools
  • Sledding hill safety
  • Community Safety Volunteer (CSV) program with DCSO
  • Criminal activity/vandalism/graffiti/track crime statistics

Volunteers Needed

The Safety Task Force is in need of additional resident volunteers. Interested residents should contact the Task Force Chairperson, Carol Langley-Finnegan (), who believes, "You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for someone else to take action. Whether it's building a better government, or building a better future, we all have an important role to play. We are so grateful for our volunteers' time and expertise.

Safety Task Force Meetings

The Safety Task Force meets the second Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the CPN CPN Community Center, located at the intersection of Yorkshire Drive and Castle Pines Parkway. All residents are welcome.
